DAY 1: Arrival in Vientiane
Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Vientiane is a fascinating capital, with a fusion of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, and American influences. This charming and easygoing city will provide a smooth introduction to Laos. After a short rest, an orientation walk of the Lao capital is a pleasant way to spend the day, strolling around some of the city’s most historical sites and seeing some of the French colonial architecture. We’ll watch the sunset on the banks of the Mekong until the late evening.
Overnight in Vientiane.
DAY 2: Vientiane – Luang Namtha – Muang Sing
Transfer to airport for a morning flight to Luang Namtha. Upon arrival, drive to Muang Sing along a winding road through beautiful tropical forests and hill tribe villages. Stop en route to visit Had Yao village handicrafts and silk dying. Along the way, we may visit Akha villages. Arrive at Muang Sing in the late afternoon. Check in hotel.

DAY 3: Muang Sing
Visit Muang Sing’s morning market and hike to Akha villages, Pou Don Than (Yao) and Fou Pou’s farm. In the afternoon visit the Muang Sing Exhibition, traditional Lao houses, minority handicraft markets, and a Buddhist temple featuring Thai Lue architecture. Drive to Ban Yaang Luang (Akha) and Ban Thin Thad (Tai Lue). Spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the mountain scenery and rice paddies.

DAY 4: Muang Sing – Luang Namtha
Morning drive to Luang Namtha. The road winds through rice paddies and the hamlets of Ban Nam Keo Noi. Stop at Ban Kum to see how locals make traditional "lao lao" wine, the most famous local wine in Muang Sing. Arrive at Luang Namtha around noon. In the afternoon visit That Poum Puk, Ban Nam Ngaen and Luang Kone temples.

DAY 5: Luang Namtha – Cycling – Walking
Full day to explore Luang Namtha by bicycle. Visit Ban Pasak and Ban Phoung - study Black Tai sericulture - learn about the centuries old art of raising and processing silk worms. Visit Black Tai cultural sites. Continue cycling to Ban Nam Thoung, a Tai Lue village known for its cotton weaving, basketry and fish farming. Visit a weaving village followed by a picnic lunch. Cycle to the Lanten village of Ban Nam Dee with its waterfall and paper making (cool season only). Then on to Ban Thong Jai Neua village, famous for its silk weaving. Return to your hotel by back-up vehicle.

DAY 6: Luang Namtha – Oudomxay
In the morning visit the provincial market and local museum. Drive to Udomxai, stopping en route at Ban Nam Deng (Lanten) and a colorful fruit market. Arrive at Udomxai in the afternoon. Upon arrival, take a short drive towards Muang to see several Khmu villages. In late afternoon enjoy the sunset and beautiful views from a hill-top shrine.

DAY 7: Oudomxay-Departure
Transfer to airport for departure flight.
