The vast complex of temples at Angkor represent human artistic endeavour on an unimaginable scale – thousands upon thousands of stones, intricately carved and constructed into entire temple-cities. Beginning in the 9th Century and developed over hundreds of years, the Khmer civilization under the rule of the Angkorian kings was complex, sophisticated and spiritually extraordinary.

To visit Angkor today is to witness some of the magic of that incredible period and experience the atmosphere of the world’s largest religious monument. Watching as monks in saffron robes pick their way among the fallen stones or pause to meditate at a ruined Buddhist shrine is a captivating experience, one which is never forgotten.

Despite a quarter of a century hidden from the outside, Cambodia’s influence is deeply imprinted on the history of the world - from the sophisticated society of the Khmer kings at Angkor to the devastating genocide of the late 20th Century. Today, Phnom Penh is a thriving city with much to offer the visitor. The promenade along the Mekong is a beautiful place to stroll, sample fine food and wine, watch the ebb and flow of the city traffic and relax in the tropical breeze.
